The Hipstamatic iPhone app is creating quite a buzz in the world of iPhoneography. Do you have a hot Hipstamatic shot? Submit your Hipstamatic images for a chance to be one of three featured iPhoneographers here on the site.
I’ve been playing with the Hipstamatic app for a week or so now and finding it lends itself well to certain kinds of imagery. Based on a recommendation from Valerie Ardini, I’ve been using the John S lens with Kodot film and I really like the effect. It has the potential to create a very dramatic mood and while walking the Matt Davies trail from Stinson Beach yesterday I created a number of interesting images that I will share in future posts. Here is one from a funky little inn on the corner coming into town. I loved the marine theme of the fence and yard and the owner was standing out front playing a trombone. I was drawn to this section of the fence and it fit perfectly into a square, the format of all Hipstamatic images. If you don’t already have it, I encourage you to get the app and have some new found fun with your iPhone
I shot this while on my way to the airport on a surf shuttle in Fiji. Every window on the bus was covered in surf stickers and this one called to me. I loved the way the words danced over the clouds as we drove through the remote countryside. Thanks to selective focus on the 3Gs, I was able to focus on the sticker, rather than the rest of the scene.
